Goals:
Equipping participants with knowledge, professional attitudes, and initial skills to carry out Pool Lifeguard duties safely and responsibly.

There are two types of certification in Pool Lifeguard, namely:

The level of Scientific Diving Certifications is designed by Association of Diving School International Indonesia as a standard and procedure for Open Water Diver and above who want to be a Scientific Diver, and have a college background. The scope of the activities is mainly for underwater studies.
The competence that they must have is to carry and install underwater equipment, observe, record and photograph the conditions of the underwater ecosystem precisely, accurately and safely. In the activities planning, they still need the guidance and supervision from the Director for ADSI Scientific Diving Indonesia Program.

Levels

  1. Basic Scientific Diver, with selected competencies:
    a. Rapid Reef Assessment (RRA)
    b. Seagrass Assessment (SA)
  2. Intermediate Scientific Diver, with selected competencies:
    a. Megabenthos Assessment (MA)
    b. Reef Condition Assessment (RCA)
    c. Reef Fish Assessment (RFA)
  3. Advanced Scientific Diver, with selected competencies:
    a. Reef Health Monitoring (RHM)
    b. Reef Fish Identification (RFI)
    c. Artificial Reefs Install & Monitoring (ARIM)
    d. SPAG’s & Megafauna Monitoring (SMM)
    e. Oceanographic Tool Installation (OTI)

Standart and Procedures

  • ADSI Indonesia Scientific Diver is an Open Water Diver or above, who has graduated from college with at least a Diploma-1 (D1) or is an undergraduate student currently in the 3rd semester.
  • The prerequisites for the log before participating in the training:
    • Basic Scientific Diver: 4 logs
    • Intermediate Scientific Diver: 10 logs
    • Advance Scientific Diver: 20 logs
  • Training until certification is about 10–18 hours with the following learning compositions:
    • Basic Scientific Diver (10 Hours):
      • 3 hours Academic Class Session
      • 3 hours Confined Water Session
      • 4 hours Open Water Session
    • Intermediate Scientific Diver (14 Hours):
      • 4 hours Academic Class Session
      • 4 hours Confined Water Session
      • 6 hours Open Water Session
    • Advanced Scientific Diver (18 Hours):
      • 5 hours Academic Class Session
      • 5 hours Confined Water Session
      • 8 hours Open Water Session
  • The training and certification will be conducted by ADSI Indonesia Scientific Diving Instructors. The Director of this Program will supervise, receive training reports, and issue the certificate.

Training and Certification Procedures

  • Fill in the student application form & send a file of color photograph.
  • Fill out and sign a statement/agreement form regarding the risks during the training.
  • Fill out and complete the form about the condition and medical history, and if necessary, accompanied by medical certificate.
  • All documents will be sent to ADSI Indonesia Headquarters in Denpasar – Bali through the Director of ADSI Indonesia Scientific Diving Indonesia Program.
  • Approximately 2 weeks later, the issued certificates will be sent to the Director or the Instructors then continued to the students.

Divers skill level in using breath media with oxygen enrichment for special rescue purposes.

Level of scuba diver with high ability and skill, also the level of preparation to become a diving instructor.

  • Able to do an underwater light salvage skills
  • Perform first aid in water accidents

60 diving logs

An advanced level for scuba divers, based on higher skills, abilities and experience.
